Short autobiography:

I am a psychologist in a multidisciplinary team working with patients with cleft lip and/or palate in collaboration with ALA –Association of patients with facial anomalies and their parentsin Bulgaria. I am working also as a psychologist in Social Services Complex for Children and Families – Plovdiv Municipality. I am at the end of my psychotherapy education in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. One of my main area of interests is the psychosocial aspects concerning cleft lip and palate, but I am interested also in the wider research on body image as a factor and an outcome of youth development. In my master degree thesis I explored social competence within preschool children without parents, living in institutions.

Reason for joining: To enhance my knowledge of the current psychosocial trends in cleft lip and/or palate, body image and appearance research and to take part in scientific networks. To create partnerships for funding/grants applications. To take part in enabling my country to join medical European network and in acquainting itself with and participating in the creation of a uniform protocol.
Current research interest in relation to the COST Action: Psychosocial aspects of body image and appearance in medical settings, focusing on cleft lip and/or palate. Training of health professionals in psychosocial aspects.
