Current job title:
Eötvös Loránd University, Doctoral School for Psychology; Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology
My main research focus as a psychologist is the social psychology of competition (especially competition among gifted and talented people and their motivation structure). As a member of the Comparative Cultural Psychology Research Group at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences I have also been taking part in a number of cross-cultural studies, mainly in the field of competition research.
Reason for joining:
To enhance cross-cultural research in the field of appearance satisfaction and to highlight cultural and social diversity in connection with predictors and risk factors and the psychosocial consequences of appearance dissatisfaction, in order to create culturally sensitive intervention methods. Besides these, I am also interested in creating strong cooperation among European research centres and scholars within the field.
Current research interest in relation to the COST Action:
a) Cross-cultural comparisons in the field of psychosocial consequences, protective and risk factors in relation to appearance dissatisfaction. b) To reveal what roles competition, competitive attitudes and social comparison can play in appearance satisfaction/ dissatisfaction? What are the relevant intervention steps from this point of view in different social and cultural contexts?
